Draft. Not in force until Study Desk opens, and to be reviewed before then.

Study Desk is a study app for university students. This page says what we collect, why, where it goes and how to get it deleted. Lebanon’s Law No. 81/2018 on electronic transactions and personal data applies to us.

What we collect

  • Your account: your email, your university and, if you add them, your name and WhatsApp number.
  • Your Moodle connection: a key Moodle gives us when you log in on your university’s own page. We never see your password. With the key we read your courses, deadlines, quizzes, exams, course files and whether you’ve submitted an assignment.
  • What you make in the app: photos you snap, questions you ask, your answers to practice questions, flashcard progress and your reminder settings.
  • Payments: your plan, the amount, the date and the payment provider’s reference. Card details go to the payment provider and never reach us.
  • Usage: counts of requests and AI usage per day, so we can keep costs and fair-use limits in check.
  • The waitlist: your email, university and, if you give them, your courses.

How we use it

  • To run Study Desk for you: your deadlines, calendar link, summaries, exam prep and the reminders you switch on.
  • To fix problems and see which features people use.
  • To tell you about your account, your plan and Study Desk itself. You can stop non-essential emails at any time.

We don’t sell your data, and we don’t use it for advertising profiles.

What’s shared within a course

Summaries and exam prep are made once for each course from its lecture, slide, reading and syllabus files, and every Study Desk student in that course sees the same ones. Nothing personal is shared: other students never see your deadlines, questions, snaps or progress.

Who processes data for us

  • Supabase: database and sign-in.
  • Vercel: hosting.
  • Anthropic: the AI that writes summaries and answers. Under its commercial terms, Anthropic doesn’t train its models on this data.
  • Kapso and Meta (WhatsApp): the night brief and reminders, if you switch them on.
  • Our email provider: sign-in codes and email reminders.
  • Our payment provider (a card processor or Whish): payments.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and Moodle key: until you delete your account, then gone within 30 days.
  • Snapped photos: 30 days.
  • Usage counts and error logs: 90 days.
  • Payment records: as long as accounting law requires.

Keeping it safe

Your Moodle key is encrypted and only used to read. Every table in our database only lets you see your own records. Grades never go over WhatsApp.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email hello@getstudydesk.com and we’ll answer within 30 days. Deleting your account from the app removes everything personal.

Age

Study Desk is for university students and isn’t meant for anyone under 16.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll email you before it takes effect.
